Cline Pass Upstream Console
Local proxy + observability console — enumerate the upstreams behind every subscription model, fail over across multiple upstreams by priority, with exact pinning / preferred + fallback / upstream exclusion / cost · TTFT · throughput sorting
No upstream API key configured yet: add your Cline Pass account (an sk_-prefixed key) under "Account Management" below and save to get started. You can also supply it through the accounts array in config.json or the CLINE_PASS_KEY environment variable.
Empirically verified behaviour (this is what shapes how the tool works):
① Upstreams are enumerable and observable: subscription-model response metadata carries the real backing model ID, the list of available upstreams, and the upstream that actually served the request;
the Probe button also sends a fake-upstream request that costs zero tokens and makes the gateway report the exact list of available upstreams (direct → OpenRouter, planner → Vercel AI Gateway).
② Both pipelines can be pinned exactly (verified — finalProvider follows the pin):
the direct pipeline (OpenRouter) takes top-level provider.only / order;
the planner pipeline (Vercel AI Gateway) requires providerOptions.gateway.only / order —
Cline drops the only/order fields of the top-level provider shorthand, but forwards providerOptions.gateway verbatim.
both pipelines also accept sort (lowest cost / fastest time-to-first-token / highest throughput).
③ Catalog :free variants run on the direct pipeline and can be pinned exactly.
④ Multi-upstream priority + failover: tick several upstreams and they are tried in the order you ticked them — the first failure (error / network failure / timeout) fails over to the next, and the error only reaches the client when every one of them failed; excluded upstreams are never used (in auto mode the exclusion is injected into the gateway request). Streaming requests can still fail over before the first byte (until SSE starts); once SSE has started the stream is passed through and cannot be retried.
